Lady
One look at Miss Lady’s sweet face and it’s hard to imagine her placed on the euthanasia list at the shelter - considered unadoptable. Dropped off with a GSD sister, she must have been fearful, confused, and overwhelmed by the noisy place with its strange smells. She was no doubt wondering when will her owners come back? Thank goodness for the kind hearted and perceptive shelter worker who saw the beautiful spirit hiding inside this scared girl.
Two months in a GSRA foster home and Lady has regained her confidence.

She enjoys going for morning runs, giving kisses, chewing on her rawhide bones, and going anywhere in the truck. She has blossomed into a wonderful family member. She made fast friends with Lucky, the resident lab/border collie mix, though Lucy - the cat - was initially perceived as mostly just a fun thing to stalk through the house. It wasn’t long, however, before Lucy was getting Lady kisses too. Fortunately our cat likes dogs and doesn’t seem to mind being greeted with a “Hello” kiss on the head.
Lady is very appropriately named, she has a slender face and build, giving her a distinctly elegant, even dainty, appearance. Well…dainty in a German Shepherd kind of way! She even likes to lie down with her legs crossed, looking just as prissy as can be! She still has some separation anxiety - understandably so - and she is learning that it is only appropriate to gallop and tear about in glee when one is OUTSIDE, not inside. True to her breed however, she is very intelligent, and she catches on quickly. Her eyes search yours intently as she attempts to discern what you mean when you talk to her. Lady graduated from Obedience School a few weeks ago with straight “A”s and a note from the instructor at the bottom of her report card – she has a beautiful spirit!
She does indeed, and as it turns out, Lady’s beautiful spirit is going to grace our home for hopefully many years to come. Although our plan was to foster her until she had a chance to stabilize and heal emotionally, somehow in this process she worked her way into our hearts! It became harder week by week to imagine sending her off to live with someone else. Lucky and Lucy agreed – she should stay!
Now we are all the “lucky” ones - our home is filled with lots of L’s.....Lucy, Lucky, and Lady - and lots of furry love!
