I established an endowed scholarship fund in honor of Smokey, Cadie's predecessor. I wanted his life and, ultimately, his death to leave a lasting legacy of hope and opportunity for those who choose to serve our canine companions. The fund is called "Smokey's Gift". Cadie has proven herself time and time again to be a wonderful and loving GSD. I'm fortunate in that my life allows me to stay home most of the time with her and our kids. She is always by my side and receives more hugs and kisses on a daily basis from our little girl, Mollee, than I can begin to count! Cadie has blossomed into a GSD that reflects the true heritage and nature unique to the breed and which sets it apart from all others. She is such an integral part of our family that Mollee insists on Cadie taking her to school and being there to pick her up every day! Cadie is also working hard at becoming a Therapy Dog...and she's doing very well, too, I might add. She's found her niche and is a true working dog now. We're an inseparable team and neither of us would have it any other way. She goes everywhere and is truly welcomed at a wide variety of businesses and restaurants now. In fact, if she's not with me, I get stopped and asked if she's OK!!! Next year we *might* consider doing some tracking work to see if she has the potential to work with me doing search and rescue. We'll see... No matter what, she and I will be doing the job together! She's continued Smokey's tradition in the finest style. She's a wonderful ambassador for German Shepherd Rescue and Adoptions (which we advocate at every opportunity!). And she's loved more than most people can even imagine much less comprehend. Many thanks to you and the Rescue for saving her and keeping her until we came along.
