Living Conditions
A house or an apartment, the city or country, the resilient GSD is flexible and will adapt to their environment. What is important is you as the owner offer stability – the one thing a rescue dog has yet to enjoy. Regardless of your living situation it is important to provide access to the outdoors. German Shepherd Dogs love strenuous activity, preferably combined with training of some kind, for these dogs are very intelligent and crave a good challenge. If you do not have a fenced yard, take long walks, visit a dog park or sign up for an agility class.
If left alone too long or not stimulated enough, German Shepherds will become bored and destructive. They enjoy being in the company of their human family as well as other pets. As a working dog that likes to please, a German Shepherd will do very well with obedience training.
