Foster Diary

His History:
Keller was found in a high-kill shelter in Atlanta. Some friends of the rescue picked him up and some wonderful pilots flew him to NC where he landed with his foster mom eventually, in Raleigh.

Notes from the Foster Mom:
Keller is just a wonderful guy and will be a loyal and loving addition to any family. He is full of love, adoration, loyalty, sweetness with just a wee bit of mischief rolled in. He LOVES his human and wants to be with you all the time. He is very much a Velcro dog, always by your side. The wonderful thing is that this also translates to being outdoors, even off leash. He is right there with you and will not wander. He likes to be part of the action and is interested in what you are up to. He is crate trained, though he has been tested inside for short periods uncrated and has not demonstrated any destructive habits. He gets very excited when I come home from work and is just a ball of energy but with a big hug and a quick belly rub, he will soon settle. He gives great lean-in hugs, long loving stares, and adores my 8 year old daughter, belly rubs and to be brushed. We could not love him or appreciate him more. He plays well with our other GSD, sometimes gooses our cats, but nothing aggressive. He is a wonderful watch dog, with a strong bark, he alerts us to all strangers near the house. He loves to play and take walks and is very well mannered on leash. Keller is very smart, corrects very easily and learns fast. He is housetrained. Leash trained. The commands he knows are; sit, down, settle, enough(to stop barking), crate, bed, heel and has 100% recall with “Keller Come.” He is very sensitive to reprimands. A slightly disproving tone of voice will send him right into a submissive posture so he needs only gently correction to get the point across. Keller is a bit clumsy. We lovingly refer to him as “OX.” What he lacks in grace, he makes up for with his loving personality to be sure! This boy is a beauty inside and out!!!
