Foster Diary
" is this a good angle for me? Am I smiling big enough? Can you see my tummy? It's important that you can see my tummy - that's the best place to be tickled you know....Ok, I'll be serious for a minute here. I know the purpose of this blog is to tell the world about me. Look, what can I say? I'm cute! I'm a GSD packed into a 25 pound body! What could be better? You know how they say that good things come in small packages? Well, that is certainly the case when it comes to me!
I once asked my foster parents who they thought my dog-parents might be. I mean, I don't look like my foster sister Samantha (she's a real GSD), and my brother Finni is way fluffier than I am..then there's Gus, the ring-leader of all us dogs...he's way taller than me...but then again, he's way taller than all of us. I guess I am just me...Imani...a smart, feisty, brave guardian of my people and home..all in a pint-sized furry package
I originally came from Louisiana... New Orleans to be exact..approximately 3 years ago. Yeah, you've got it, I'm a Hurricane Katrina survivor. I was found as a teensy-weensy little pup who somehow managed to survive the storm. I moved to NC when I was adopted, but that home fell through and, to be honest, it's taken me a little while to bounce back from that disappointment. Humans don't seem to understand what it does to us dogs when we're left behind! But enough about that. I'm now living with my foster Mom and Dad and a house full of other animals and I am now ready to find my forever home... did you get that...F.O.R.E.V.E.R home!! I'm not moving again after this - so make sure you read carefully and know what you're getting into when you take me home - when you see me in person you'll think I am the cutest thing you've ever seen, but beware - I'm a firecracker
My foster Mom says to always lead with the good stuff - so let me start by saying that I am 100% house trained, great with other dogs of all shapes and sizes, very respectful of my feline sisters and brothers and an excellent house guest when left alone for long periods of time (i.e. I don't need to stay in my crate any more as I am a mature girl who, unlike my 6 year old canine sister Muuf does not regress into pupphood and chew the furniture at any given whim!!). I walk like a little princess on leash and I LOVE to ride in the car with you. I'm super athletic...I go and go and go like the Energizer Bunny - but I also like to snuggle. Don't tell my foster Mom, but when she is asleep on the couch, I like to climb up and snuggle right beside her! She never even wakes when I climb up on her as I am so small and light....unlike my hefty foster sister Samantha (she's the one I am sitting next to in that last picture - what a chunk!
Now, if I had to be honest and tell you some of the things I need to work on, I'd probably admit that i'm still a little touchy about being...well...touched! I never learned the basics when I was a little pup, so I'm not really sure how to express my happiness when I am being loved on. I have this bad habit of growling and putting fingers in my mouth to show that I'm having a good time. I don't mean to frighten anyone - and I never hurt them - but Mom says it's not the way a lady responds to pats and belly rubs, so I'm working on this. I'm also a bit of a loud mouth.... I am the canine equivalent of a house alarm! If a squirrel or bird has the audacity to walk on our front lawn I'm all over it!!! Seriously - nothing gets past me! I tested my guard dog prowess on the air-conditioner man the other day and let's just say that he will no longer be underestimating the seriousness of a miniature GSD! Oh, don't worry, I don't bite...it's a classic case of my bark being worse than my bite (but don't tell the AC man that!).
Ok, Mom is telling me to wrap this up (she knows from personal experience that, given half a chance, I will just go on and on and on and on!). Bottom line - I am small, I am scrumptiously cute, I am smart, I am cuddly,I am the perfect house guest and I am looking for a forever home! So, don't limit your search for the perfect dog to those other dogs on our site - those full-sized GSDs are seriously over-rated!
