Daphne is a very sweet girl. She is about 2.5 years old, great with children, people, and other doggies. We are not sure about kitties. She is a bit petite for her age, probably due to malnutrition when she was younger. She is slowly filling out and is looking better than when we first got her.
She was all skin and bones with an almost hairless tale. Now, her hair has grown in nicely and her coat is shiny and soft. She is eating well and beginning to fill out but will need to continue to put on a few more pounds. She does not have a huge prey drive or play drive. She is content to hang out and will do well in either a home with other dogs or as the only dog. She is great with children and her whole body wiggles when anyone wants to shower her with attention or affection. She can get so excited so I would recommend older children since she has knocked our 5 year old nephew over – only due to excitement – not in a mean way. Lucky for us, Story has been around dogs his whole life, but I would not want any youngsters to be frightened by Daphne’s happiness. She is a smart little cookie! It took me less than a week to housetrain her and teach her sit. She has also been learning leash manners and what “wait” means… no more bolting out the door! She knows how to open a certain kind of gate latch and that was a surprise to all of us! Ha! Inside, she is calm and will find a special place to lay down and relax. She enjoys being “under” things – under the desk, at your feet, under the coffee table – under whatever! ? She most certainly will be in whatever room you are, “under” something. She enjoys a nice dog bed and bones to chew. She is not super into toys, but I am sure she could be in the right home. Right now, she lives with 4 other shepherds who are very into toys and they out run her. She never has a chance to get the ball. Ha! All in all, Daphne is a sweet girl who definitely deserved another shot at life. She is spayed, has had all of her vaccinations, and in is great health! So what do you say? Wanna meet Daphne?
